There is still time to apply for a guaranteed income program in El Monte, California, that will provide up to $500 monthly payments to selected recipients.

"Individuals selected to participate in the program will be issued a debit card," a city manager's office representative told the Washington Examiner. "Every month, the city will load $500 on the debit card. Individuals can use it to pay for goods and services at any location that accepts debit cards. The city will provide training on how to use the debit card for participants."

Applications for this program have been open since March 27 and will close on April 15, per the city's website.
