In three days, applications for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend program for 2024 will open for eligible residents in the state.
The program offers Alaska residents a direct payment annually based on the state's mineral revenues for that year. Applications for the program will be open from Jan. 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024, with residents being able to apply online or via a paper form.

To be eligible for the state program, applicants must intend to remain a resident of Alaska indefinitely and not be a convicted felon, among other requirements.
For Alaska residents to receive the payment, they must apply during the application window, even if that person has received a payment in the past. There are some exemptions allowing residents to apply past the regular application period, but most will have to apply between January and March to get a payment. The status of an application to the program can also be viewed on the website.
More information on exemptions to the standard application period and other details about the state program can be found on the Alaska Department of Revenue’s website.

The Permanent Fund Dividend offers a different payment amount each year, with the checks sent in 2023 being worth $1,312. The state began sending those payments out to eligible residents in October.
"This year, we processed over 8,000 more applications than in 2022," Alaska Department of Revenue Commissioner Adam Crum said in a statement about the 2023 payments. "The 2023 PFD will inject nearly $1 billion into the state's economy and directly into the hands of Alaskans."
