Georgia residents will be getting payments of up to $500 any day now, thanks to a tax rebate approved in March.
These rebates will be worth $500 for joint filers, $350 for heads of households, and $250 for individual filers. For tax filers who filed in time for the April 18 tax deadline, this payment will be given to them sometime between six or eight weeks after April 18, according to Georgia's Department of Revenue.

“Georgia is once again in a position to issue surplus tax refunds thanks to years of responsible, conservative budgeting and because we chose to protect both lives and livelihoods during the pandemic,” Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) said in a statement earlier this month. “While failed policies coming out of Washington, D.C. are pushing us closer to a recession and forcing hardworking Georgians to endure sky-high inflation, we on the state level are doing what we can to return money back where it belongs — in taxpayers' hands."
To be eligible for this payment, a recipient must have filed their individual income tax return for tax year 2021 and tax year 2022 by April 18 (or by Oct. 16 if given an extension), had a tax liability for tax year 2021, and are either a Georgia resident, part-year resident, or nonresident.
The rebate was made possible after Kemp signed House Bill 162 in March, providing $1 billion in tax rebates for Georgia income tax filers.

For those who wish to track their payment, they can do so online, although they will need to have some information on hand in order to find out the estimated arrival of their payment. This information includes either the taxpayer's Social Security number or the individual taxpayer identification number, as well as the amount of one's federal adjusted gross income listed on their 2022 Georgia individual income tax return.
Additional information regarding this rebate can be found online on the state's Department of Revenue website.
