California
Los Angeles County announced the process of its guaranteed income program, called Breathe. According to the program site, Los Angeles County residents could be eligible for monthly payments of $1,000 for two years if they meet several income and age requirements.
To qualify, residents must have been in foster care up until age 18 or later and be at least 21 years old but below the age of 24 as of Sept. 1, 2023. Income requirements must be equal to or less than 100% of the median in the area.
Applications can be submitted electronically starting June 20 through July 3, and 200 people will be selected.
Massachusetts
Massachusetts residents who filed their 2021 returns by Oct. 17, 2022, are eligible for a refund equal to approximately 14% of their 2021 state income tax liability and should have received these payments by December.
However, Massachusetts residents can still file their tax return by Sept. 15, 2023, and be eligible to receive benefits from Chapter 62F, the law that forces Massachusetts to return leftover revenue to taxpayers.
If applicants filed in May, the payment should be issued in June.
New Jersey
Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) enacted the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters, or ANCHOR, program in June 2022, a property tax relief initiative.
If applicants applied by Feb. 28, roughly 2 million New Jersey households qualified for property tax rebates of up to $1,500. Residents who have been receiving direct deposits or checks should expect more this month.
Georgia
The Georgia Department of Revenue has been sending out special 2023 surplus tax refunds to eligible residents.

If Georgia residents filed a tax return in 2021 and 2022, they could relieve a payment that could take up to eight weeks, according to the department.
With nearly $1 billion in surplus tax funds, the government is issuing rebates of $250 for individuals and $500 for couples.
