Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon saw his podcast War Room return to Spotify this week after being banned for five years.
War Room was not allowed on Spotify and most other streaming services after an episode in November 2020 in which Bannon threatened former FBI Director Christopher Wray and former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci. At the time, he said then-President Donald Trump should fire them and put “heads on pikes” as a “warning to federal bureaucrats.”

The episode also earned Bannon a ban on Twitter at the time and was scrubbed from YouTube. However, Bannon continued to produce the podcast on Apple Podcasts and Rumble.

As Elon Musk took over Twitter and rebranded it as X, he restored Bannon’s account. The ban was intended by previous leadership to be permanent, but now Bannon even promotes War Room on the platform.
Ever since, Bannon has made increasing appearances on news programs and podcasts. Most recently, Bannon appeared on the Tim Dillon Show with the comedian by the same name after Dillon hosted then-Vice Presidential candidate JD Vance. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) invited Bannon on his podcast, This is Gavin Newsom. Both podcast hosts faced backlash for having him on.
