SpaceX successfully launched its fifth test flight of the Starship rocket on Sunday.

Starship launched at 8:25 a.m. ET from its facility near Brownsville, Texas. It separated and continued on to space, traveling halfway around the Earth before it reentered the atmosphere and splashed down in the Indian Ocean as intended.

There were no people aboard the mission.

The full Starship system, which is intended to be fully reusable, has flown four spaceflight tests over the last couple years, and each one has achieved more milestones than the previous one.

The rocket’s booster returned to land on the company’s launch tower almost seven minutes after launch, which the company said was one of the “primary test objectives.”

“Extensive upgrades ahead of this flight test have been made to hardware and software across Super Heavy, Starship, and the launch and catch tower infrastructure at Starbase. SpaceX engineers have spent years preparing and months testing for the booster catch attempt, with technicians pouring tens of thousands of hours into building the infrastructure to maximize our chances for success,” the company wrote on its website.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk said the test was a “big step towards making life multiplanetary.”
