Angel Studios is partnering with the director of Sound of Freedom again with another movie based on a true story, which is scheduled to be released next year.

Cabrini will detail the true story of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who went on to become one of the great entrepreneurs of the 19th century. The film will be the second film that Alejandro Monteverde has directed for Angel Studios, with his first, Sound of Freedom, being the biggest box office surprise of 2023.

“Francesca Cabrini is one of the most inspiring and influential figures in modern history, and yet few know her story," said Liz Ellis, chief operating officer of Angel Studios. "Faced with seemingly insurmountable life obstacles, Cabrini chose instead to focus on how she could change the status quo in her time, and her impact on the world is still felt today. We’re thrilled to be able to share her unbelievable story in theaters this spring."

Cabrini has been praised by Angel Studios's investors, who have given it "even higher ratings than Sound of Freedom." The movie will star Cristiana Dell’Anna as the title character, with other actors in the film including John Lithgow, David Morse, Giancarlo Giannini, and Federico Castelluccio.

Praise for Cabrini from Angel Studios investors comes as Sound of Freedom has recently expanded to international theaters, releasing in South Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, and other countries since Aug. 18. The movie will also release in Spain on Oct. 11.

Sound of Freedom follows the story of Tim Ballad, who is portrayed by Jim Caviezel, as he goes on a quest to save children from a sex trafficking network in Colombia.

Since the film's release on July 4, it has made over $180 million in North America. The movie's domestic box office total puts it ahead of the domestic totals of multiple major 2023 movies, including Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
