NextImg:Sorry, most people don’t support children transitioning

It has become next to impossible to shield children from gender ideology . Earlier this week, it was reported that a professor of pediatrics in New York who is involved in an LGBT "special interest group" encouraged parents to embrace nonsensical ideas about gender before a baby is born. These included the idea that gender exists along a spectrum, biological sex is "assigned" at birth, and "nonbinary" children exist.

As "wokeism" becomes increasingly codified in healthcare, it will be ever more difficult for parents to obtain non-gender-affirming treatment for a child with gender dysphoria . And for children who aren't gender dysphoric, I don't imagine it will be any easier to find objective information about their development, either.

POLITICAL AND MARKET PRESSURE INCREASES TO RAISE DEBT CEILING

Despite mainstream transmission of this ideology, people remain split on the matter of childhood transition.

When asked in a poll by Axios-Ipsos whether people, more broadly, should be allowed to decide their gender identity, 44% agreed, 31% disagreed, and 24% preferred not to take a position. When specifically asked about teenagers choosing their gender, those percentages shifted — 44% disagreed, 33% agreed, and 22% neither agreed nor disagreed.

As well, 38% said parents supporting a child's transition is akin to child abuse, whereas 36% said it isn't. For this question, the remaining 24% of those polled, roughly a quarter of the sample, didn't take a position. In my view, this likely denoted discomfort at the question, agreement that it is child abuse, and a lack of courage to say so explicitly. When broken down along party lines, 55% of Democrats versus 12% of Republicans endorsed the belief that teenagers should choose their gender identity.

Overall, this suggests that many are skeptical about the idea of children, including teenagers, transitioning. This is a reality rarely acknowledged in narratives promoted by scientific organizations and the media.

For parents who are seeking help and support for a child who is gender-questioning, I would suggest finding a clinician who is older and more experienced in the field who will be more confident and well-versed in the scientific research and, fingers crossed, less fearful of "woke" activists. Being closer to retirement will also afford a clinician greater freedom to practice according to evidence instead of being constrained by social justice trends. We can only hope that gender trendiness fizzles out before this generation of practitioners retires or is canceled out of existence.
