Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner warned President Donald Trump not to send the National Guard into his city to address violent crime.

The announcement by the far-left district attorney came after Trump deployed the National Guard in Washington, D.C., to address the city’s violent crime. The decision to do so has drawn criticism from Democratic politicians around the country, claiming the move was not necessary, citing a decrease in homicide and crime rates in the nation’s capital.

Krasner echoed similar comments about Philadelphia and its crime rates, which have dropped in recent years. The decrease comes after the city set a record for homicides in 2021 while Krasner was in office. Krasner has been in office since 2017, when George Soros contributed nearly $2 million to fund Krasner’s initial campaign.

“Violent crime in Philly is at a record low,” Krasner said. “This is a fact. The same is essentially true for Washington, D.C., and other major American cities. Trump is targeting for military invasion.”

Krasner said Trump’s claims about violent crimes in cities were dishonest. He accused the president of trying to scare people in the country and advance authoritarianism.

“His claim that violent crime is an emergency in these cities is a flat-out lie, and a cynical ploy to scare Americans into accommodating his authoritarian ambitions,” said the district attorney. “The only public safety emergency in these cities is Trump himself.”

Krasner mentioned the city’s efforts to decrease crime and then disparaged the president about the weaponized lawsuits against him that occurred between his first and second terms.

“Communities across Philadelphia, in collaboration with law enforcement and city leaders, are working hard every day to continue decreasing this downward trend in violent crime even more,” said Krasner. “Philadelphia will not accommodate his designs. Philadelphia ‘isn’t the one,’ as we like to say in Philly. To be clear, Donald Trump — the 34-time convicted felon, insurrectionist, and king of the cover-up — is the national emergency.”

The Soros-funded district attorney then said that while Trump could deploy the National Guard in Washington, D.C., he had less authority to do so in Philadelphia and other cities throughout the country. He reinforced the notion that Trump would be limited in using the National Guard in Philadelphia.

TRUMP BRUSHES OFF CALLS FOR DC STATEHOOD AS ‘RIDICULOUS’

“[Trump] may think he’s going to try it in another place,” Krasner said. “But the fact is, legally, he has much less of a right to do any of this in other cities.”

“Donald Trump is the emergency, folks,” Krasner said. “If you want your democracy, you better stand up now.”
