Former Saturday Night Live cast member Joe Piscopo praised the Hollywood writers strike for taking on “the corporations against the working man and woman.”

“You know why it’s so important?” Piscopo said of the strike while appearing on Fox and Friends. “It’s because it’s the working class people of America versus the big corporate giant. That’s what’s happened. These movie companies are making a fortune.”

Piscopo, who was cast on SNL in 1980 as part of an overhaul of the show’s original cast, described himself as a “blue-collar entertainer” and laughed at some of his residual payments that amount to less than $1 checks.

He slammed the Hollywood studios and production companies for not paying the people doing the work.

“They’ve got to spread the wealth a little bit because we’ve gone through this year after year after year in the writers guild, of them taking advantage of us,” Piscopo said. “It’s time to stop and stand strong.”

“It’s the corporations that are taking over in a Democratic-run regime in Washington that is hurting the people,” he added. “It’s the corporations against the working man and woman. It’s got to stop.”
