NextImg:Sinema drops hint about 2024 plans with victory lap on huge spending bill

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) hinted at her 2024 plans after touting her success in negotiating the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Sinema, then a Democrat, was instrumental in negotiating the colossal spending bill, brokering the bill alongside Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH). Her work drew praise from President Joe Biden, who labeled her "the most determined woman I know." Two years after its signing, Sinema used the occasion to take a victory lap, saying that voters could expect more in the future, hinting at a reelection announcement.

BURCHETT DOUBLES DOWN ON MCCARTHY ASSAULT CLAIM: 'SPIRALING OUT OF CONTROL'

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ).

"Arizona — this is just the beginning. There’s still more to come," she wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. "You can count on me to keep bringing folks together, focusing on what matters, and delivering results for our state that will stand the test of time."

Sinema hasn't yet announced whether she will run for reelection, but all signs are pointing to a likely announcement soon. She faces a daunting task, as she's currently far behind in both fundraising and polling.

An October poll from Public Policy Polling found that Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) received 41% of voter support compared to Republican Kari Lake's 36%. Sinema is trailing at 15% in a hypothetical three-way matchup, with 8% saying they weren't sure.

Gallego is also leagues ahead of Sinema in terms of funding, having received $1.7 million from donors who gave to Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) in 2022. Comparatively, Sinema has received just $205,500 from those same donors, according to a Politico analysis.
