On Thursday night, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) participated in a “Politics and Pints” conversation at a community college in the Philadelphia suburbs. Paul was the guest of Dom Giordano, a radio talk show host on Philadelphia’s WPHT 1210 am.

Speaking to a standing-room-only crowd at Zlock Performing Arts Center at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pa., Kentucky’s junior senator took questions from Giordano as the two sat in two chairs on a stage. They touched on many political topics, including the COVID pandemic, masks, vaccines, congressional hearings with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Ukraine, government spending, the COVID investigation, and TikTok. Paul also briefly discussed the upcoming presidential election.

During the conversation, Paul mentioned two government officials with local ties: former Pennsylvania Secretary of Health (and current Assistant Secretary for Health and Admiral of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps) Rachel Levine and Senator John Fetterman (D-PA).

While reflecting on the pandemic, Paul brought up an incident involving Levine, Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Health at the time. The senator referenced the controversy from May 2020, in which Levine removed his mother from a nursing home shortly after introducing a policy that required all of Pennsylvania’s nursing homes and other health facilities to admit patients from hospitals in the area who were treated for COVID-19.

“It makes me mad that she takes her mom out,” Paul said. “Leave your mom in a nursing home. I’m taking my mom home because I know a nursing home is a crappy place to be.”

“You want to get mad,” Paul said. “Think about the people whose loved ones were putting their hands to windows as they were dying. Think of all the people who died alone. It makes me so mad to think of this person. The hypocrisy of her.”

“They shouldn’t be telling us to do one thing while they do the other,” Paul said to cheers from the crowd.

Paul then detailed an incident involving Fetterman during the Senate’s debate regarding aid for Ukraine. First, he complimented the senator’s “self-deprecating humor” pertaining to a conspiracy from 2023 in which people claimed Fetterman was using a body double. Paul said he found his response to the ordeal humorous.

“He was accused of having a doppelganger, having a double who does things for him,” Paul said. “He made fun of it on video. I think self-deprecating humor is kind of funny, so I complimented him. This was three or four months ago.”

“But now he’s using profanity about me and saying I’m keeping us there on the weekend just for fun,” Paul said regarding Fetterman’s comments about Paul during the Ukraine debate. “I would rather go home on the weekend. I am a normal person. I want to go home. The only time I keep them there on the weekend is because they’re spending all your money, and someone’s got to try to stop them.”

At the event’s conclusion, Paul left the stage to a standing ovation. The entire affair lasted approximately 90 minutes. After Paul departed, the crowd also gave an ovation to the host, Dom Giordano.
