The campaign arm of Senate Republicans is beginning to roll out a barrage of ads in battleground states as part of a $100 million investment to retake a majority in the chamber in November.

On Thursday, the National Republican Senatorial Committee began to place multimillion-dollar reservations for TV and digital advertising in the fall for four states: Ohio, Nevada, Michigan, and Arizona. Ohio and Nevada are rated toss-ups by the nonpartisan election forecaster Cook Political Report, while the other two are viewed as competitive.

But the organization also detailed how it is working in coordination with the campaigns across a wider set of battleground states to stretch the $100 million with “hybrid” ads.

The NRSC has already begun coordinating ad campaigns with Larry Hogan in Maryland, Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania, Tim Sheehy in Montana, Sam Brown in Nevada, and Kari Lake in Arizona, the organization told the Washington Examiner. Montana is also a toss-up race.

The NRSC will do the same in the coming months for Bernie Moreno in Ohio, Mike Rogers in Michigan, and Eric Hovde in Wisconsin.

“This investment is a reflection of the fact that Senate Democrats are on defense all over the country,” NRSC Executive Director Jason Thielman said. “Joe Biden’s extreme unpopularity has given us a chance to build a lasting Senate Majority. We have the right candidates and the right message, now we need to execute.”

Democrats are defending vulnerable incumbents across the Senate map in a bid to maintain their 51-49 majority. If President Joe Biden wins reelection, Democrats can afford to lose one seat.

Senate Democrats’ campaign arm, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, is in the midst of its own ad blitz centered on access to abortion.

Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has wielded his floor power in recent weeks to hold votes on hot-button policy issues such as immigration, gun control, and abortion access that Democrats hope will buoy them at the ballot box this November.
