Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) became the latest lawmaker to endorse former President Donald Trump's reelection bid on Monday, just one day after Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) endorsed Trump's 2024 campaign in the latest sign of the former president's dominance of the GOP primary race.
In his statement endorsing Trump, Marshall, a Trump ally who criticized Trump's impeachment trials and has blasted the Justice Department over the 91 indictments the former president faces, called for the end of the "political primary charade," a reference to Trump's 2024 GOP rivals.

"While others may try to imitate him, only President Trump will put our country back on track on day one," Marshall said. "It's time for the GOP to unite behind President Trump. Let's end the political primary charade and focus on retiring Joe Biden."
In his statement, Marshall also lambasted Biden over rising inflation, the Green New Deal, and his record handling the southern border while calling for an "'America first' leader" to lead the nation once again.
"Since the day Joe Biden stepped foot in the Oval Office, this White House declared war on American agriculture and American energy independence in pursuit of their Green New Deal agenda and electric vehicle mandates," Marshall said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.
"Along with an onslaught of strangling regulations, Joe Biden declared war on our economy by unleashing a level of federal spending never seen in modern history, causing the highest inflation and interest rates that we've seen in decades," Marshall continued. "In less than three years, Joe Biden has failed us on the world stage, allowing wars through weakness instead of peace through strength."
He then accused the president of abandoning the nation's principles. "Amid Joe Biden's totally absent leadership, he has also completely abandoned our Christian values and undermined our constitutional rights," Marshall said.
Farm country is struggling. Every day, the American dream is being pushed further out of reach. We need an America-first leader in the White House who fights for families in the Heartland and the values we live by.

With Marshall's endorsement, at least 13 senators are now backing the former president. Sens. Mike Braun (R-IN), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Ted Budd (R-NC), Steve Daines (R-MT), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and J.D. Vance (R-OH) have also endorsed Trump.
Similarly, Abbott claimed Trump would restore the nation from Biden's leadership on Sunday. “We need a president who is going to secure the border. We need a president who is going to restore law and order in the United States of America, not letting any of these criminals run ransack over the stores that you see images of almost nightly," Abbott said.
