The film Cocaine Bear might be running through theaters, but a "Cocaine Cat" is running through the street.

An exotic African cat named Amiry with cocaine in his system was rescued in a Cincinnati neighborhood after police pulled over its owner during a January traffic stop.

"In the early morning of January 28, Hamilton County Dog Wardens (a division of Cincinnati Animal CARE) responded to reports of a 'leopard' or 'exotic cat' being spotted in a tree in Oakley," Cincinnati Animal CARE said in a statement Thursday.

Amiry had escaped and ran up the tree during the traffic stop, officials said.

"Upon arrival, Dog Wardens were able to retrieve Amiry from the tree and brought him to Cincinnati Animal CARE. CAC's medical team first called in a big cat expert who had worked on the Zanesville tragedy from a few years back. Our initial thought was the cat was a hybrid F1 Savannah, which are legal to own in Ohio, but our expert was pretty certain Amiry was a serval, which are illegal."

After Amiry was retrieved, a DNA test confirmed his species and drug status.

"Amiry tested positive for exposure to cocaine and the DNA test concluded he was indeed a serval," the statement read. "Our facility is not equipped to house wildlife and he was safely transported to USA Today's Best Zoo in the US, the Cincinnati Zoo."

How Amiry came into contact with the cocaine has not been confirmed.

No charges have been filed, and the cat's owner has relinquished possession of Amiry.
