


At least one security guard is dead and another is reportedly injured after the pair was stabbed by a person who was attempting to steal product from a Philadelphia Macy's.
Authorities said the incident began at approximately 11 a.m. at the Center City Macy's location when the suspect, identified as male, tried to make off with multiple hats, according to a report.

Security guards confronted the man and took back the product, resulting in the man leaving the Macy's.
He returned roughly 15 minutes later and allegedly stabbed the first guard, identified as a 30-year-old man, in the neck, according to the report.
When the second guard, identified as a 23-year-old man, attempted to help the first guard, he suffered stabs to his arm and face, police said.
The 30-year-old was rushed to a local hospital, where he died, and the condition of the second guard has not been confirmed.

After stabbing the two guards, the man fled the scene and ditched the knife on tracks of the SEPTA's Market-Frankford Line, police said.
He was later taken into custody at the Somerset station, the report noted.
