The Secret Service said it is committed to working with Congress in a letter to three House committee chairmen who requested to have an undisclosed number of agents sit for transcribed interviews in connection with the Hunter Biden investigation.

On Thursday, the assistant director of the Office of Intergovernmental and Legislative Affairs at the Secret Service said they “are currently looking into this matter” but remain committed to assisting Congress in their investigation.

“We take your inquiry very seriously and need some time to ensure that we are able to address it fully,” the letter reads. “We remain committed to working with Congress to meet its oversight responsibilities and to respond to your request.”

Back in June, Chairmen James Comer (R-KY) of House Oversight, Jason Smith (R-MO) of Ways and Means, and Jim Jordan (R-OH) of Judiciary requested that several Secret Service agents sit for transcribed interviews before House Oversight Committee staff.

The request for transcribed interviews follows testimony from two IRS whistleblowers who claimed the Department of Justice significantly interfered in Biden’s criminal investigation.

The Secret Service agents who would be asked to sit for transcribed interviews include any agent who received a “tip-off” on Dec. 7, 2020, that criminal investigators with the IRS wanted to interview Biden.

According to one of the IRS whistleblowers, the “FBI headquarters had notified Secret Service headquarters, and the Biden transition team, about IRS CI’s plan to interview Hunter.” The whistleblower continued, saying, “This essentially tipped off a group of people very close to President Biden and Hunter Biden and gave this group an opportunity to obstruct the approach on the witnesses.”

The three chairmen also requested transcribed interviews with 11 DOJ officials, including David Weiss, the lead U.S. attorney on the Biden investigation, and two IRS employees.

A spokesperson for the House Judiciary Committee said they had started the process to get the transcribed interviews scheduled with the DOJ officials.
