Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) called on Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) to start “singing from the same song sheet” regarding Ukraine.
President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently had a testy exchange in the White House, where Zelensky criticized Trump and Vice President JD Vance for not visiting Ukraine. Vance accused Zelensky of giving a “propaganda tour” to visitors, which did not deter Kelly from his recent visit.

“The American taxpayers are tapped out,” Schmitt said on Fox News’s the Ingraham Angle on Monday. “Now you have a president who believes in realism. Who understands the world as it is, understands the situation on the ground, and knows now is the time for peace. So the sooner everybody gets singing from the same song sheet, the better off we will be. Again, I think the Democrats like to thump their chest on this a lot. Now is the time for peace.”
“Do you support senators going over during the middle of this process,” host Laura Ingraham asked.
“I think it’s ill-advised. You have an administration that literally is in the middle of negotiation right now. They are in Saudi Arabia. I just don’t think it’s helpful,” Schmitt said. “Again, can you sort of thump your chest and wear your Ukraine flag? It just doesn’t help end the war. The killing needs to stop. President Trump is, like I said, the only person who can deliver that, and now is the time.”

Trump senior adviser Elon Musk called Kelly a “traitor” over the visit. Kelly dismissed the criticism, writing on X, “Elon, if you don’t understand that defending freedom is a basic tenet of what makes America great and keeps us safe, maybe you should leave it to those of us who do.”
Kelly’s trip also came close to the government shutdown deadline of March 14.
