The Washington Examiner’s Sarah Bedford blasted the “very few consequences” that FBI officials have faced, despite reports showing repeated unethical behavior.

The recently released report on the origins of the Russian collusion investigation from special counsel John Durham indicated a greater amount of misconduct plaguing the ranks of the FBI than previous investigations.

In a recent writing, Bedford noted that “many of the people cited as having engaged in unethical, and even illegal, behavior remain in positions of power and influence throughout Washington, D.C.”

While appearing on Fox Report with Jon Scott, Bedford reiterated that there have been “very few consequences for the people who have been found over and over again in every inquiry to have acted in an unethical way.”

“For me, one of the biggest takeaways was not just what that report said about how the FBI handled the probe into the Trump-Russia collusion situation, which was obviously pretty devastating, but also the way the FBI handled pretty similar allegations involving Hillary Clinton’s campaign, how quickly those allegations were dismissed, how little credence FBI agents gave those allegations despite the aggressive treatment that they gave to the similar charges against the Trump campaign,” Bedford said.

“I think that was a key revelation that was new to the Durham report that had not been in the Senate Intelligence Committee report, that is not a part of the inspector general report in 2019,” she continued. “It really drove home how much of a double standard there was in the treatment of Trump versus Hillary Clinton and other people of his stature. That’s, I think, one of the most damning pieces of evidence that came out of this Durham report.”

Bedford also noted that another key point to come from the Durham report is not that the FBI “broke its own rules” but whether what the FBI did was “ethical and moral.”

“Maybe the activity wasn’t illegal, strictly speaking,” Bedford noted. “But it wasn’t right, and I think that was a key aspect of what Durham found that’s new.”
