How is it that “tolerant” Democratic “sanctuary” jurisdictions are now kicking illegal immigrants out of shelters?
Massachusetts has added itself to the list, preparing to evict illegal immigrant families from the family shelter system beginning in September.
“As Congress has repeatedly failed to act on this federal problem, Massachusetts has been going above and beyond,” Gov. Maura Healey (D-MA) sanctimoniously preached. “This new length of stay policy will strengthen those efforts to connect families with the resources and services they need to move into more stable housing and contribute to our workforce.”
Isn’t that something? According to Healey, evicting families from shelters is actually going to help them because it will throw them into the real world and they will have to find jobs and their own housing or live on the streets. Massachusetts has gone from telling illegal immigrants it is a sanctuary for them to telling them to sink or swim.
Massachusetts and its eight sanctuary cities are not the only ones casting illegal immigrants out on the street after inviting them into their cities — and the country. New York, Chicago, and Denver have all brought the border crisis to their states, leading Democrats running those cities and their states to choose to start pushing families out of shelters.
Where are the tolerance and acceptance? Where are the “migrants make us better” and “we must not turn our backs on them” mindsets? What part of evicting illegal immigrants from shelters and casting them out on the streets matches up with these Democratic-run cities’ promises of sanctuary?

The reality is that Democratic politicians in Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, and Colorado are hypocrites. They were all content to brag about being sanctuaries and to shame “hateful” Republicans when the crisis stayed in Texas. It was all fun and games watching Texas Republicans struggle to deal with the surge and watching border towns be overrun, but now that the crisis has reached their doorstep, all those grand sanctuary promises don’t seem as achievable anymore, now do they?
Of course, Massachusetts Democrats still maintain that their sanctuary cities are still sanctuaries and they still want illegal immigrants flocking to them. Healey is even trying to say that evicting them is helping them, after all. So the only solution is to send even more of them. That is what they are still asking for, even as they warn that they are on the brink of collapse from the consequences of their policies, which they never thought they would have to face.
