If you need any further proof that the ideology of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” must be destroyed before it destroys society, you need look no further than the San Francisco Unified School District.
SFUSD announced a new grading policy that would make student grades dependent only on a final exam. Homework and even showing up to class would not have any effect on grades. Students would be allowed to redo the exam, but that likely wouldn’t be necessary, as the policy would also change the grading system. Under this policy, the threshold to receive an A would be lowered to 80%, while you could get a C with just 41%. A grade of D, which is a passing grade, would require you to score just 21%.

The district scrapped the idea one day after the announcement, after it was dogpiled by parents and even other San Francisco Democrats. Still, SFUSD pushed this proposal all the way through the process. The district is still defending the policy even after pausing it, with Superintendent Maria Su blaming “misinformation” for the backlash. SFUSD still wants to impose this grading system. Public backlash is the only thing stopping it.
This is what DEI gets you. “Equity” dictates that, if people cannot reach certain standards, the standards must be the problem. Rather than trying to get San Francisco students to excel, SFUSD wants to eliminate grading standards (almost) entirely. That way, every student can pass, even if they put in no effort, skip all their classes, and luck their way into a 21% score on a test they are allowed to retake, however many times the district allows them.
CONGRESS MUST NOT STAND BY AS DEI DESTROYS AMERICAN MEDICAL SCHOOLS
This is the same mindset that has led DEI Democrats in education to try and eliminate advanced classes and standardized tests. “Equity” means that all these are unfair, because students don’t get the same outcomes. Wouldn’t it be better if every student “passed” and there was no meaningful measure of success or work ethic? SFUSD and others who support DEI think so, even if it means dumbing down students’ education to the lowest level.
SFUSD would rather turn its schools into glorified babysitting operations for high school students than expect students to do work, study, and actually learn things. This is how “equity” works, and why DEI policies and ideas must be stamped out at every institution they have invaded.
