A panelist on San Francisco's reparations committee said white men are a "danger to society." She made other statements deriding white men as well.

Nikcole Cunningham, one of 15 members of the city's African American Reparations Advisory Committee, decried straight white men as abusive and actively dangerous to society in an interview with the Telegraph.

Steven Bradford, Secretary of State Shirley Weber, task force member Lisa Holder and Assemblymember Reggie Jones-Sawyer hold up a final report of the California Task Force to Study and Develop Reparation Proposals for African Americans during a hearing in Sacramento, Calif., Thursday, June 29, 2023.

"Straight white men are abusive; straight white men are serial killers,” Cunningham said.

“They have the most — I watch these shows — the most serial killers," she continued. "Straight white men are the ones who are shooting up schools, right?"

“So they are a danger to society," Cunningham added. She did make sure to clarify, "Not all of them.”

She continued to bash white men for not supporting her advisory committee's reparations recommendations, which include $5 million cash payments to every black resident of the city.

“So if anything, [white men] pose more of a harm than support and help. And then you got to remember their ancestors ... are the ones who were standing out here in their Sunday best watching black people hang and burn," she added.

Cunningham also claimed that “white supremacy is ingrained in the DNA in this country and definitely in this city.”

When asked how she expected to pay for the ambitious reparations plans, the panelist proposed levying taxes on utilities, including “water, garbage, [Pacific Gas and Electric], internet, cable."

“You adding even $0.05 to these things, you have millions and millions, if not billions, of dollars," she continued. “But the simple fact that these are things that you have to use, who’s going to say, I’m not going to give those people reparations, I’ll turn my water off? No one.”

The Telegraph reported that the panelist's statements are in line with those of other members of the committee.

San Francisco established its own reparations committee in the wake of the riots following the death of George Floyd. Its proposals are more far reaching than that of California's Reparations Task Force, which itself is demanding hundreds of thousands of dollars for black residents. In addition to the $5 million payments, the current reparations plan for black residents of San Francisco includes wide-ranging benefits, such as the elimination of personal debt and tax burdens, a guaranteed annual income of at least $97,000 for the next 250 years, and homes in the city for $1 per family.

In April, the committee demanded $50 million in order to establish a dedicated reparations office. The mayor of the city declined.
