At least two dozen people were injured as a result of the blast.
Tatarsky had been gifted the statue of himself by a woman, and investigators believe that an explosive device had been concealed inside the present.
A 26-year-old anti-war protester, identified as Daria Trepova, was arrested following the attack, according to Russia's Interior Ministry, and Russian authorities are calling the incident a "high-profile murder."

The Ukrainian government denies any connection with the explosion, but U.S. officials said they believe parts of the Ukrainian government had authorized the attack, the report noted.
"Internal political fight" is the cause of Tatarsky's death, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said. "Spiders are eating each other in a jar," he added.
