NextImg:Russell Brand recaps ‘amazing’ first week as reawakened Christian - Washington Examiner

Comedian and podcast host Russell Brand shared a video on social media discussing his first week living as a baptized Christian, in which he described the reawakening he has experienced since getting baptized.

Brand started his video by showcasing a crucifix and described the “incredible” baptism he had inside of his home. He also detailed how someone attending the ceremony injured his foot and had to get hospital treatment, with Brand joking that he went right from getting baptized to living out the Christian lifestyle of helping others.

“The main thing is that since it, there’s been a different connection,” Brand said. “I do see what an amazing gift it is.”

The podcast host noted how some people will prevent others from experiencing the feeling of awakening and questioned if this form of suppression is unique to Christianity. He added that some people want others to be controlled “by their material models” instead of experiencing the feeling of awakening that Christianity offers.

“They don’t want people recognizing, ‘Oh, my life isn’t about me,’” Brand said. “‘I’ve been co-opting in an illusion, I’ve been lost completely in self, and now I must learn to untether myself from the tendrils of selfishness, egotism, and self-centeredness and awaken to something greater.’”

Brand concluded his video by saying his first week as a Christian had been “a beautiful week.”

The comedian released a video last week shortly after he got baptized, which he described as an “incredible” experience. Brand also thanked the encouraging comments he has received in discussing his exploration of faith while acknowledging the more cynical comments from people who “just see me as a celebrity.”

Shortly before sharing his baptism reflection, Brand shared a video of him discussing Tarot cards, asking viewers what their views on the topic are and noting how many Christians consider Tarot and even yoga as “heresy.”

Brand has made his exploration of Christianity no secret, documenting it online several times in the past few months. In January, Brand revealed that he was wearing a Christian cross necklace and was desiring a “personal relationship with God.”
