NextImg:Russell Brand describes ‘incredible’ experience in reflecting on his baptism - Washington Examiner

Podcast host and comedian Russell Brand took to social media on Monday to describe the “incredible” experience he had with his recent baptism.

Brand has discussed his path in exploring faith and Christianity over the past few months, revealing over the weekend that he would get baptized on Sunday. When reflecting on his baptism, Brand said that many aspects of it were “intimate and personal.”

“The truth is this, as a person that has in the past taken many, many substances and always been disappointed with their inability to deliver the kind of tranquility and peace, and even transcendence, that I always felt I’ve been looking for, something occurred in the process of baptism that was incredible, overwhelming, literally overwhelming, because I was obviously underwater,” Brand said.

Brand also thanked the encouraging comments he has received in discussing his exploration of faith, while acknowledging the more cynical comments from people who “just see me as a celebrity.”

The podcast host also stated that he made “the decision” for himself, and that he prays that it will be relevant for his family, including his children and wife. Brand stated that his wife is Catholic and has made her own decisions in life “including this one,” pointing at himself.

“This is new for me,” Brand said. “I’m learning, and I will make mistakes. But this is my path now, and I already feel incredibly blessed, relieved, nourished, held.”

Prior to posting this baptism reflection video, Brand posted a video of him discussing Tarot cards, asking viewers what their personal view on the topic is, noting how many Christians consider Tarot to be “heresy.” Earlier this month, Brand shared a video of him praying the Rosary, and asked viewers what they thought of the prayer.

In January, Brand revealed that he was wearing a Christian cross necklace and was desiring a “personal relationship with God.” He added that Christianity was inevitably becoming “more important as I become more familiar with suffering, purpose, self, and not self.”
