Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani bashed Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) presidential campaign launch, claiming he was "helping Biden."

Appearing in a Twitter Space hosted by entrepreneur Mario Nawfal, Giuliani gave his thoughts on DeSantis's presidential campaign launch. While refusing to attack his record, Giuliani attacked DeSantis from the angle that he was unnecessarily dividing the Republican Party.

"He's helping Biden," Giuliani said, adding that he didn't understand why he was running in the first place.

"Why should we put the defeat of Biden in jeopardy with some kind of bitter primary?" he said.

Giuliani also criticized the governor for apparent disloyalty to Trump, crediting the former president with getting the governor elected.

"There's no doubt that Trump got him elected. ... If someone got me elected, I would feel some sense of loyalty to him," he said.

The launch of DeSantis's presidential campaign shows "his ambition overcoming basic values like loyalty," the former mayor said, further arguing that the main goal of the Republican Party should be removing Biden.

"We have got to get rid of a Democratic government, which has become close to a fascist government," he alleged.

The governor's criticisms of Trump also help Biden, he added.

"He has every right to do it, but he has to realize that when he's doing it, he's helping Biden," Giuliani said.

Giuliani served as Trump's lawyer for much of his presidency and led the investigation into Trump's claims of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. He has remained a proponent of Trump following his departure from the Oval Office.
