Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) claimed there are other people who have "come forward" with information on unidentified flying objects.

Rubio's statement comes after David Grusch, a whistleblower on potential information about UFOs, filed a complaint to the Defense Department's inspector general in July 2021. Rubio claimed that there are people who have come forward with information with Rubio's committee and that he would imagine that some of these people are "potentially some of the same people" that Grusch is referring to, according to his Monday interview on NewsNation.

“I want to be very protective of these people," said Rubio. "A lot of these people came to us even before protections were in the law for whistleblowers to come forward,” Rubio said during an interview with Joe Khalil.

Grusch alleged in his complaint the existence of a covert public-private sector program to retrieve and exploit crashed, unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, or what the government refers to as unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAPs. He also claimed that the United States has retrieved bodies from other species. Grusch has subsequently briefed Congress on his assertions.

“What I think we owe is just a mature, you know, understanding, listening and trying to put all these pieces together and just sort of intake the information without any prejudgment or jumping to any conclusions,” Rubio said.

Last month, NASA held its first public conference on UFOs. It explored findings from an independent study team created in 2022 to investigate what it calls "unidentified anomalous phenomena," or UAPs. Members of the panel said one major theme that emerged over the course of their inquiry was a lack of reliable information.

Additionally, task force member and astrobiologist David Grinspoon said there is “by no means universal belief that there are extraterrestrial civilizations” within the scientific community. Other members confirmed there is currently no evidence to associate the unidentified objects with extraterrestrial intelligence.
