The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee White said the latest attacks on 2024 Republican presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and his wife Casey are nothing short of “political sexism.”
While appearing on Fox & Friends, McGhee White said the Washington Post’s description of the couple as “insular,” “an inner circle of two,” and “guarded” only describes “a perfectly normal and healthy marriage.”

“Those are the things that a marriage should be,” McGhee White said. “Who else needs to be involved in the inner workings of their marriage? But what this really is, I think, it’s an example of political sexism. And I say it’s political because you only ever see these sorts of attacks on Republican or conservative women.
“Casey DeSantis has been subjected to multiple attacks of this kind,” she added. “Maybe she does have an outsize role in his campaign. But again, this was never derided as a bad thing when it’s talked about in the Democratic sense. Hillary Clinton was praised for having a prominent role in her husband’s presidency to the point where the media even encouraged her to run for president herself.”
McGhee White said she would encourage Casey DeSantis to do more interviews and allow the public to get to know her.

“She is such an asset for Ron DeSantis, who has been sometimes criticized for, you know, for not being very charismatic or personable. Casey DeSantis is all of those things. She’s warm, she’s beautiful, she’s inviting. She really is a great asset for him and a great partner to him.”
The Florida governor announced his candidacy in March. DeSantis currently trails former President Donald Trump 53.5% to 20.9% in polling among likely Republican voters.
