Comedian Rob Schneider harshly criticized a California bill recently passed by the state assembly, arguing the state is "no longer safe" to raise children in.
Assembly Bill 957, voted on by the California Assembly on Friday, would require judges to consider a parent's opinion of his or her child's gender identity in custody cases and has been sent to Gov. Gavin Newsom's (D-CA) desk for signing. Schneider, who has described himself as an independent who leans more conservative, expressed great disapproval of the legislation on social media, arguing that children are not old enough to make decisions about their gender.

"I will say this again. … It is no longer safe to raise your children in California," Schneider wrote. "Children are not old enough to drive, drink, vote, smoke, get a tattoo, but the Democrats in California think children (who are naive and easily manipulated) are old enough to make decisions that permanently remove sexual organs and take castration drugs and risk becoming infertile FOR LIFE!"

Schneider added the legislation was "pure evil" and that people "will not let this stand."
The comedian also criticized the Biden administration last month for its response to the wildfires in Maui. Schneider's specific criticisms were over the administration's continued financial support for Ukraine while not providing as much support for Maui victims.
Schneider revealed last year that he left California for Arizona because he did not want "the Democratic Party trying to run my life." An example he cited was San Francisco forcing him to remove the flowerpots he had outside his home.

Assembly Bill 957, titled the Transgender, Gender-Diverse, and Intersex Youth Empowerment Act, was introduced by Democratic Assemblywoman Lori Wilson on Feb. 24 and amended in the assembly on March 13 and the Senate on June 5. The bill was passed on Friday by a vote of 57 to 16.
Current California law requires the court, for purposes of deciding custody, to "determine the best interests of the child based on certain factors, including, among other things, the health, safety, and welfare of the child." However, Assembly Bill 957 would "include a parent’s affirmation of the child’s gender identity as part of the health, safety, and welfare of the child."
