Rob Bresnahan, a Pennsylvania businessman, announced on Thursday that he is running for Congress against Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA).
Currently, Cartwright represents a vulnerable seat. According to Cook Political Report with Amy Report, the seat is an R+4 and is rated a toss-up.

Bresnahan is a political newcomer who spent his adult life in business and has never run for office before.
A native of Luzerne County, Bresnahan started working for his grandfather's electrical business as CFO at the age of 19 and shepherded it through the financial crisis of 2008. He then took over as CEO and grew the contracting business to more than 150 employees.
Now, he has decided to run for Congress in a toss-up seat that will be incredibly competitive.
“I’m running for Congress because I care deeply about Northeastern Pennsylvania,” Bresnahan said in a statement. I was born, raised, educated, and built a business right here, this is the community I love. For too long, politicians in DC have failed to deliver for our families. I’m running to be the next generation of leadership our region deserves and to fight for our future.”

The seat voted for former President Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020, making Cartwright one of the most vulnerable Democrats of the cycle.
"National Republicans are excited about Bresnahan’s candidacy," a DC-based Republican political operative said. "Based on his deep roots in the district and background building a successful business, they think he has the right profile to mount the strongest challenge to Cartwright."
