Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel continued to defend herself after uproar from some Republicans after the party suffered losses nationwide in elections on Tuesday.
McDaniel, speaking on Fox News's The Ingraham Angle, pushed back on claims that the RNC was not doing enough in Virginia in the GOP's bid to win majorities in both state legislative chambers, which they narrowly failed to do. She applauded Gov. Glenn Youngkin's (R-VA) fundraising efforts but said she cannot "raise state dollars."
THERE IS NO SINGLE SOLUTION TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY'S ELECTORAL PROBLEMS
"A lot of people don’t understand fundraising. I can’t raise state dollars. I don’t get unlimited convention and state dollars. And these were state house and state Senate races; the RNC is a federal committee," McDaniel said. "So, come on. Can you just — these are people who come after me all the time. They’re on Twitter. They are all the time. And let’s see their results. What did they do in Virginia? How much money did they give? Let me stand by something else. In 2022, we took back the house."
The RNC chairwoman, who has held the position since 2017, has come under increased scrutiny in recent years after a string of GOP losses, with Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy calling for her resignation during a GOP debate on Wednesday.
McDaniel was given the opportunity to respond to Ramaswamy's calls for her resignation during her appearance on The Ingraham Angle, but instead said that she was "going to continue to focus on Joe Biden and Democrats."

On Thursday, she claimed that Ramaswamy's swipe at her came because "he's at 4%" in the polls and that "he needs a headline."
During McDaniel's tenure as chairwoman of the RNC, she oversaw Republicans' loss of control of the Senate and White House in 2020. She also oversaw Republicans lose the House of Representatives in 2018, along with them narrowly regaining control of the chamber in 2022.
