House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) asked the top officials at the Department of Justice and FBI on Wednesday to testify at a pair of summer hearings as part of Congress’s annual oversight of the agencies.

Jordan requested Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray appear on July 24 and June 26, respectively, for the scheduled hearings, according to a letter obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The chairman also criticized the DOJ for causing “unreasonable delay” in scheduling the oversight hearings, saying his office had asked the department numerous times to provide workable dates and that the department had repeatedly said it would eventually respond to the committees but still has not.

The DOJ has not confirmed that the pair of officials will appear for the specified dates. The Washington Examiner reached out to the DOJ for comment.
