Republican Jeff Hurd defeated Democratic challenger Adam Frisch and will represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District in the House, succeeding Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) after she switched districts.
The Associated Press called the race for Hurd at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, with 89% of the vote counted. Hurd received 50% to Frisch’s 46.9% at the time the race was called.
It is the second loss for Frisch, who came close to ousting Boebert in the 2022 midterm elections but lost by a razor-thin margin. With Boebert as the leading Republican candidate in the 3rd District, the race was rated a “toss-up” by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. However, the race shifted back to “lean Republican” when she moved districts.
Boebert shifted to Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, which was left vacant by retired Republican Rep. Ken Buck.
