MILWAUKEE — Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) blamed Democrats and the news media for the recent assassination attempt on President Donald Trump.
“First, they tried to censor him,” Hammack told attendees at the Florida delegation breakfast before the Republican National Convention began. “Then they arrested him. Then they convicted him. Then they shot him.”
Taking a page from the liberal attempts to pin political violence on “demonizing” rhetoric by conservatives, Cammack mentioned President Joe Biden’s call to put Trump in the “bullseye” and said: “You know when they call you a threat to democracy for eight years and compare you to Hitler — what did they think was going to happen?”
Cammack called on Democrats to apologize for the demonization of Trump. She then moved on to the media.

“The media is complicit,” Cammack added, blaming news outlets for “amplifying the absolutely unacceptable violent rhetoric of the Left.”
