Embattled Rep. George Santos (R-NY) will file a privileged resolution to expel Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) from Congress.

Santos, who is poised to be ousted from Congress himself this week after a damning House Ethics Committee report, cited that Bowman pled guilty to one count of falsely setting off a fire alarm after security camera footage captured him pulling it in a House office building while Democrats were trying to delay a vote.

This could likely be Santos' last action in the House as he is set to be expelled on Friday. He announced it at a press conference on Thursday morning, claiming that because he is being expelled without a conviction, someone like Bowman who has pled guilty to a crime should also be expelled.

"If the House wants to start different precedents and expel me, that is going to be the undoing of a lot of members of this body, because this will haunt them in the future where mere allegations are sufficient to have members removed from office when duly elected by their people in their respective states and districts," Santos said.

Bowman has maintained that he pulled the alarm, which prompted a temporary evacuation of the office building, in an attempt to exit the House building. Bowman said he had no intention of obstructing the House's official business or halting the vote taking place. But he pled guilty nonetheless.

"No one in Congress, or anywhere in America, takes soon-to-be former Congressman George Santos seriously," Bowman responded Thursday in a statement. "This is just another meaningless stunt in his long history of cons, antics, and outright fraud."
