Wednesday is apparently the “International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia,” or IDAHOBIT. Poor Bilbo Baggins.

Setting aside the increasingly bizarre merging of homosexuality and bisexuality (which are sexual orientations) with transgenderism (which is not a sexual orientation), demonstrated by the fact that May 17 was just International Day Against Homophobia until it was expanded in 2009, Democrats are reliably falling over themselves to commemorate this occasion.

The Democratic Party announced that members “stand in support of the entire LGBTQ+ community.” Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) said that he is “a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community in the fight to ensure they can live authentically without fear of discrimination.” And Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) declared that “Democrats always proudly stand with LGBTQ+ Americans in their fight against injustice and discrimination,” while calling for opposition to “discrimination, especially amid the escalating assault on our trans community.”

Always?

If Democrats truly believe that unquestioning support of the ever-expanding LGBTQ+ community is a foundational value that has existed since the formation of the party itself, we must ask why their leader is President Joe Biden — a man who described homosexuals as “security risks” in 1973, adding, “but I must admit I haven’t given this much thought … I’ll be darned!”

This is the same Biden who voted in favor of legislation that essentially banned open homosexuals from serving in the U.S. military through “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

This is the same Biden who voted to end federal funding for “any school district that teaches acceptance of homosexuality as a lifestyle.”

And this is the same Biden who voted to prevent HIV-positive immigrants from crossing America’s borders.

And who can forget that Biden voted in favor of the Defense Of Marriage Act in 1996, which clearly defined marriage as being between one man and one woman, with no mention of gender identity! Biden even repeated this now-transphobic and homophobic rhetoric as Barack Obama’s running mate.

What changed? The answer is simple: nothing.

Joe Biden is and will always be nothing but a shameless metaphor for the entire Democratic Party, where the only variable they care about is power.

In decades past, Biden needed to oppose gay marriage. Today, he needs to support it.

Neither Biden nor the Democratic Party care about the LGBTQ+ community, and certainly not because they’re in any way empathetic toward the real struggle of many of its members.

No, they just understand that the LGBTQ+ community has become the face of this generation’s victim class, often voluntarily so, and the American Left thrives in an environment where it is able to convince others that Democrats are on the side of this victim class.

This may seem well and good when you are a member of this victim class. But if you find yourself in any other group that doesn’t provide the Democratic Party with the same political capital, then you’ll find yourself alone.

Like homosexuals in 1973, unless you serve a purpose, you’re just a security risk. I’ll be darned!
