Former Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus laid out how the 2024 Republican presidential candidates can navigate the biggest elephant in the room: former President Donald Trump.
The former Trump White House chief of staff told Fox News on Monday that all of the Republican presidential candidates are "playing a wait-and-see game" about how to deal with Trump.

"No secret, we all know many of them are waiting around trying to see how much of a load can President Trump’s boat take. So far, it has taken everything that has come his way," Priebus said.
The GOP strategist said the candidates need to go "back to the early states" in building delegates and momentum.
“Can a Ron DeSantis or Chris Christie or whoever get some momentum in New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and then take that surprise and move it into a momentum game into Super Tuesday?" Priebus said. "You have got the RNC rules changing once you get to Super Tuesday. The delegates are awarded on a winner take all basis.”
"If they win with 30% of the vote and everyone else is below that, they get all the delegates. That means that they are basically wiped out," he explained.
Priebus said the next key part of winning is about the "money."
There are "a good five or six candidates" who can likely raise the money through Iowa and New Hampshire, but Priebus believes some won't be able to keep going if they "can’t get 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5% of the vote."

This is when they will "start dropping out," Priebus said.
The former GOP head said when candidates start to drop out, that's when they will be able to determine "whether a real challenger emerges" against Trump.
