2024 Republican primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has laid out a plan of how, as president, he would address the "underlying rot" found in many cities in the United States.
The 2024 candidate, who is competing for the Republican nomination against former President Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), explained that he had recently visited Kensington, Pennsylvania , and compared the city to "a third-world reality within" the U.S. Ramaswamy noted that the situation could be fixed in a new op-ed published Tuesday by the Washington Examiner.

"After traveling the country and speaking with voters, I am more convinced than ever that we don’t have to be a nation in decline," Ramaswamy wrote. "But first, we have to make that choice — a choice to be better, to do better. And it starts with better policies."
Ramaswamy's first step to address the "rot" in the U.S. would be to stop encouraging people to do "the very things we don’t want them to do," which would include halting payments to residents and to "stop handing out needles and crack pipes."
The second step Ramaswamy would take as president would be to address "the vulnerabilities along our borders" because the drug cartels along our southern border have had a "devasting impact" on U.S. residents. If elected president, Ramaswamy said he would take the threat resulting from an unsecured border "seriously" and would use the U.S. military to secure our border.
The third step would be to understand what is the root cause of the societal decay present in the country. The presidential candidate claimed that the country must reclaim "the values that once defined us and can still shape our future."

If we can refocus this country on faith, family, and truth, we will unleash the American spirit and return the Kensingtons of America to their former glory."
