Several protesters have been arrested outside the Supreme Court, as justices are scheduled to hear arguments in a case over the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the abortion pill mifepristone.

A group of 13 people were arrested for blocking a roadway after receiving a warning, U.S. Capitol Police confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

“A group of about 13 people has been moving around Capitol Grounds – illegally blocking roads and then a walkway. Our officers warned the group to stop blocking the walkway or they would be arrested,” a U.S. Capitol Police spokesperson told the Washington Examiner. “They refused, so our officers arrested them for D.C. Code § 22–1307 – Crowding, Obstructing, or Incommoding.”

A violation of that statute of D.C. criminal code is misdemeanor, punishable by up to 90 days in prison and/or a fine of $500 – if convicted.

The case before the Supreme Court on Tuesday is expected to have a significant impact on abortion access ahead of the November election, with a decision expected by the high court by June.
