Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, a Philadelphia native and resident, was at the White House’s Juneteenth celebration last week. He posted pictures on his X account showing the festivities, including the numerous entertainers who performed. Kenyatta then targeted Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) with a post saying he was “happy to be surrounded by people who don’t think Jim Crow was great for Black families.”

Instead, Kenyatta just celebrated gathering with the political party that was responsible for slavery and Jim Crow.

Kenyatta’s snide comment was about an event Donalds hosted earlier this month in Philadelphia focusing on black outreach for the Trump campaign. During the event, “Congress, Cognac, and Cigars,” Donalds discussed the damages that Democratic policies have inflicted on the black community for generations. He also talked about the importance of the family structure in the black community and how it has deteriorated over the last 50 years.

To emphasize his point, Donalds mentioned that during what was known as Jim Crow, an era of segregation and intense racial bigotry, created by sets of laws that Democrats passed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there were fewer black children born out of wedlock than there are today, in a time of relative racial equality. However, this factual and truthful statement made Democrats angry. They refused to admit Donalds was correct and, instead, miscategorized and misrepresented his words. It was in that deceptive spirit that Kenyatta made his social media post.

But that is the thing with Democrats like Kenyatta. They are so woefully uninformed that they cannot answer with truth and instead must rely on ad hominem logical fallacies to make their points. This is precisely what happened when Kenyatta said he was happy to be around people who didn’t think Jim Crow was great, all the while celebrating with members of the political party, the Democrats, that was responsible for Jim Crow in the first place.

Furthermore, in case Kenyatta didn’t know, the Democrats were also the political party that wanted to keep slavery as a legal institution. And Democrats were also the political party of the governors who blocked black students from entering and integrating public schools less than 60 years ago.

There is also the irony of Kenyatta attending a Juneteenth celebration hosted by members of the political party that did everything possible to prevent the events in 1865 that made the Juneteenth holiday even possible. It should also be noted that Kenyatta attended a party hosted by a president who, in his political career, was against the government’s efforts to integrate schools, who gave a eulogy to a senator who was a former KKK leader, and who, as a senator, sponsored the 1994 crime bill that the Brookings Institution labeled as a piece of legislation that “overly criminalized Black Americans.”

Despite their recent pandering and political manipulation of the black population, Democrats can’t escape their legacy of slavery and segregation. Every educated, intelligent, and objective person knows the harsh reality of the Democrats’ racially bigoted past. Kenyatta’s comment was more of an embarrassing display of ignorance to the truth that Donalds was saying than anything.

Kenyatta weaponized a political falsehood and lie against Donalds regarding Jim Crow, all the while he was too vacuous to realize he was supporting the political party that made Jim Crow a reality in the first place.
