Actor, film producer, and author Kirk Cameron said the overwhelming response to his nationwide library storytime tour is representative of parents and grandparents desiring to push back against “the storm of wokeism that appears to be sweeping the nation.”

Thousands of parents, grandparents, and children have come to hear Cameron read his faith-based children’s book As You Grow at public libraries across the country after around 50 libraries originally rejected his request in December.

Kirk Cameron reads his "As You Grow" children's book at the Placentia Library story hour on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.

KIRK CAMERON SEES ‘TIDES TURNING’ AS PATRIOTIC STORY-TIME TOUR HEADS TO NASHVILLE

"People understand the consequences of staying on the sidelines and not getting into the arena where the battle’s taking place,” Cameron told the Washington Examiner.

Cameron said his storytime tour is indicative of a larger national narrative containing 2024 election battleground topics surrounding the preservation of family values, faith, and freedom.

“The providential winds seem to be blowing in the same direction, toward reviving people, awakening people, preserving and advancing the values that lead to blessing and freedom,” Cameron said.

Cameron characterized the families attending his storytime tour stops as “ready to join the fight.”

“It’s really, really exciting,” Cameron added. “I think what we're seeing is going to turn into a tidal wave of momentum, of energy, of conviction, and of action. And it's going to be characterized by getting back to the basics of fearless faith and moral integrity, of replacing apathy and complacency with hard work and activism.”

“The idea is that men and women with changed hearts change their world,” Cameron continued. “Men and women with changed hearts and minds then reform their families and their communities and their nation.”

His nationwide tour began in Indianapolis and has included stops in New York, Savannah, Georgia, and Los Angeles.

Cameron’s most recent storytime stop was at the Hendersonville Public Library near Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, where the library began to waiver in its ability to host the event.

However, with the help of local leaders, the storytime continued where Cameron led hundreds of attendees in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the national anthem before reading his book twice inside the library.

“Great time today with Kirk Cameron and the Brave team,” Sumner County Commissioner Matthew Shoaf said in a Facebook post. “Here in Sumner County we will #BeBrave and make sure patriots can speak openly in public spaces!”

Cameron is next scheduled to read his book at a public library in Houston, Texas, on March 4, 2023.

He said he also has plans to visit Washington, D.C., New York City, and Denver, Colorado, among other cities.
