


Police confirmed two sightings of escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante on Friday in the search area near the Chester Counter Prison in Pennsylvania.
State police confirmed the sightings in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday morning, beginning the 10th day of the manhunt.

Search efforts for escapee Danelo Cavalcante continues this morning. There were two confirmed sightings of Cavalcante within the search area yesterday, September 8th. The search area now runs from Conservatory Rd. to State Route 52 and Street Rd. to Longwood Rd.

A spokesperson for the Pennsylvania State Police Troop J also noted on X the search is being continued with the assistance of federal, state, and local authorities.
Nearly 400 officers have been assigned to the case as the number of sightings has grown since Cavalcante escaped on Aug. 31 by "crab-walking" up a wall in the exercise yard.

Also on Friday, a Chester County spokesperson confirmed that the prison guard on duty during the escape had been fired from his position. The guard, whose identity has yet to be made public, had an 18-year-long career in corrections.
Cavalcante, 34, was convicted of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death in front of her two young children in 2021.

The escapee's mother, on Monday, day five of the search, issued a public statement pleading with her son to turn himself in to authorities.
There is a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to his capture.
