NextImg:Parents must fight back against Joe Biden’s designs on ‘all our children’

President Joe Biden just uttered aloud the Left’s nefarious views on children .

For decades the Left has been obsessed with the idea, straight out of Brave New World's dystopia , that children belong not primarily to the nuclear family but to the community.

That was essentially the point of Hillary Clinton’s appropriation of the African proverb that “ it takes a village to raise a child.” It is why so many “diversity” trainings and misnamed “anti-racist” curricula, including at a Smithsonian museum and at numerous school systems , specifically attack the “nuclear family” as an element of racism or “whiteness.” It is why schools across the country have policies literally forbidding school personnel from telling parents that their children are “identifying” as new “genders.” It is why former Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D-VA) said, “ I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

Now a research arm of the Republican Party is publicizing a statement in the same vein by Biden.

“There's no such thing as someone else's child,” said the president. “No such thing as someone else's child. Our nation's children are all our children.”

Biden isn’t just wrong. He is dangerously wrong when he and his allies push this idea. Yes, it is true that if a child is neglected, abandoned, or abused, that the whole community has a role, including through government action, to care for the child. If a child is going hungry, charitable organizations and the government should ensure he gets fed. Those, though, are the exceptions. And even then, those children are still children first of the parents and then of the most immediate next of kin. They are not “all our children.”

Except that, perhaps secondarily, when acting in loco parentis with parental approval, they especially are not “all our children” when it comes to instilling values or determining who has primary authority for discipline, care, and love. Parents since time immemorial have been, and are by nature, the primary sources of care — the primary protectors and instructors of their children. This is a basic, natural instinct of humankind, as it is of almost every species in the animal kingdom. To say or act otherwise is not “progressive” but monstrous.

If Biden’s statement had not come amidst a concerted effort on the Left to remake humanity by hook or by crook — one that repeatedly (see above) treats parents literally as obstacles to its agenda — then it could be dismissed as random verbal rambling by an old man. The problem is that what Biden said is what his government tries to do every day. That’s why his Justice Department literally investigated parents upset with their school boards as if they were domestic terrorists .

Our nation’s children are their parents’ children, first and foremost. They are not other random people's children. Parents need to keep fighting back to protect their control over their children's moral upbringing — to claim their children, to tell the government to step back and butt out from where it doesn't belong. This battle is civilizational. It is a battle parents must win.
