A break-in at the house of slain Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, was reported.

Police responded around 8:00 am local time to a break-in at the home of the Hortmans, who were both killed Saturday in what officials have called a “politically motivated attack.” Law enforcement had boarded up their home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, on Sunday.

“The home was once again processed by crime scene investigators for evidence of the burglary,” police said. “The home appeared to have been searched by an unknown individual; however, the family has indicated that they don’t believe anything is missing.”

Police said the family had already “removed items of value from the home on Tuesday.”

Vance Boelter, 57, was arrested Sunday in connection with their murder and the shooting of Democratic state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. He is said to have impersonated a police officer before killing the Hortmans and attempting to kill the Hoffmans.

Boelter allegedly “stalked his victims like prey,” acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota Joseph Thompson said.

A North Dakota man was additionally charged Wednesday after sending a threatening email to a federal prosecutor in which he cited the Minnesota shootings.
