DocGo CEO Anthony Capone resigned from his company that New York City hired to care for migrants after he admitted he lied about his credentials previously.

Capone had claimed that he received a graduate degree in artificial intelligence from Clarkson University. Later, Capone admitted to the Albany Times that he had never attended the university.

New York City has a $432 million no-bid contract with DocGo to provide services to migrants who have recently arrived there. The company provides mobile medical units that can arrive at the various emergency shelters where the migrants have been dispersed. DocGo claims on its website that it has saved $200 million in healthcare savings from diverted emergency department visits and unnecessary hospitalizations by encountering some 7 million patients with its mobile units.

Now, according to a Friday U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing, COO Lee Bienstock will be taking over as CEO. Capone is still listed as the CEO on the company's website, as of Sunday.

"I take full responsibility and am making immediate corrections to all official bios, profiles, and any other materials where this incorrect information appears," Capone said in a statement.

This news comes in light of Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) sending 13,300 migrants to New York City, the highest number among the six Democratic municipalities that he has transported migrants to. Additionally, Abbott has bused immigrants to Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.

The immigrants that Abbott has transported represent less than 2% of the estimated 2 million that have entered the border and been released into the country's other interior states.

NYC Mayor Eric Adams announced a budget cut of 5% across all city agencies to "reduce the cost of caring for the asylum seekers" that have recently arrived in the city. This is the third budget cut the mayor has called for, asking every agency to reduce their spending by 5% for the November budget, then again for the January budget, and finally for the April budget.
