EXCLUSIVE — National Republicans are hitting out against Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), using the recently trending "Spotify Wrapped" layout to paint the Democratic leader as an inefficient leader.
The National Republican Congressional Committee rolled out its own Wrapped review for Jeffries, highlighting some of the top members retiring from the House next year and accusing the New York Democrat of failing to address key issues facing voters. The attack plays off the recent trend of Spotify users releasing their own Wrapped reports, which detail compilations of user activity over the last year.

"Extreme, yes. Easy listening, no," said NRCC national press secretary Will Reinert to the Washington Examiner. "Hakeem Jeffries will be forced to face the music as he enters yet another long cycle in the minority."
One of the most popular features of the Wrapped profiles is users' top songs, which the NRCC used to highlight five controversial statements made by rank-and-file Democrats over the last year. One of the instances includes a statement made by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) last month in response to the Hamas attack on Israel.
In that response, Tlaib used the phrase "from the river to the sea,” referring to the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River that includes Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. Tlaib was later censured by her colleagues over the use of the phrase as well as allegations of “promoting false narratives” about the Oct. 7 attack.
The NRCC review against Jeffries also included a spoof of the Spotify "Top Artists" category, instead highlighting five lawmakers they deemed as "the ones that got away," referring to five Democrats who have announced they will not run for reelection and will either retire or run for another office.
"You'll miss listening to them to next cycle," the tagline says alongside a photo of Reps. Katie Porter (D-CA), Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Jeff Jackson (D-NC), Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), and Dan Kildee (D-MI).
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released its own version of a Spotify Wrapped spoof on Wednesday, seeking to instead depict the House as being in a state of chaos due to Republican leadership.
"After 163 days in session, you've lived through at least 4 near-physical altercations between House Republicans," the review states. "You sat through 19 votes for House Speaker. You've survived 26 days with no House Speaker. You've watched 2 Republican attempts to shut down the government."

The Spotify Wrapped parodies come as both parties begin to ramp up attacks on their opponents ahead of the 2024 cycle. House Republicans are seeking to hold on to their slim four-seat majority, which could grow even smaller this week with the possible expulsion of Rep. George Santos (R-NY), and Democrats are looking to flip control of the lower chamber.

All 435 seats are up for grabs in 2024 as Republicans seek to hold their slim majority in the lower chamber. Of these, 45 are considered competitive, with most of those held by Democrats, giving the GOP a slight advantage as it prepares for the next election cycle.
However, of the 45 competitive seats, 18 are held by Republicans in districts that voted for President Joe Biden in 2020, compared to just five Democrats who must defend their seats in districts carried by former President Donald Trump. That means there are just enough vulnerable GOP-held seats to keep things competitive heading into the next election cycle.
