Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has criticized President Joe Biden for his handling of the United States's stance with China.

Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, said it was "disappointing" that Biden has not stood up to China more during his presidency, calling the Eastern nation "an enemy" of the U.S. Her criticism comes in the wake of Biden saying he does not want "to contain China."

"I view China as an enemy, and what's disappointing about what Biden has done is here you have China has bought up 400,000 acres of U.S. soil, most recently near Grand Forks Air Force Base," Haley said on Sunday in an appearance on State of the Union. "They bought our largest pork producer in the country. They continue to steal $600 billion in intellectual property. They're sending millions of dollars to our universities, and stealing our research, and spreading propaganda."

Haley asked, "How much more has to happen?" before the president told China, "We're not gonna put up with it?" She also said that sending more U.S. Cabinet members to China is not the solution the U.S. should pursue.

Biden was recently asked at a press conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, about accusations from Chinese president Xi Jinping that he wants to contain the country as Biden builds allies in the region; Biden denied the accusations.

"I just want to make sure we have a relationship with China that is on the up and up, squared away," said Biden.

China's economy has barely grown this year, with prices falling by 0.3% in July and the country's gross domestic product also slowing down. In regards to China's economic state, Biden has argued that it could mean that China will not invade Taiwan, a concern many in the U.S. have had for some time.

Haley is running for president in the 2024 presidential election, competing against other Republicans like former President Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) in the Party's primary. A recent poll found that nearly all of the Republican candidates in the primary race could beat Biden in a general election, with Haley having the biggest lead of 49% against Biden's 43%.
