Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley shared her next career move after dropping out of the 2024 presidential election. The former Republican South Carolina governor will join the conservative Hudson Institute think tank.

“When our policymakers fail to call out our enemies or acknowledge the importance of our alliances, the world is less safe,” Haley said in a statement on Monday. “That is why Hudson’s work is so critical.”

She added, “They believe the American people should have the facts and policymakers should have the solutions to support a secure, free, and prosperous future. I look forward to partnering with them to defend the principles that make America the greatest country in the world.”

Hudson President and CEO John P. Walters called Haley a “leader on both foreign and domestic policy.”

“In an era of worldwide political upheaval, she has remained a steadfast defender of freedom and an effective advocate for American security and prosperity,” Walters said. “We are honored to have her join the Hudson team.”

She will be the next Walter P. Stern chairwoman at the institute.

Haley increased her foreign policy credentials when she was former President Donald Trump’s U.N. ambassador. Haley later challenged Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary but then dropped out in March after being soundly defeated by the former president on Super Tuesday. She did not provide an endorsement of Trump when she suspended her campaign.

The former governor will join other notable fellows at the Hudson Institute, including former Attorney General William Barr, former State Department official David Asher, and former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao.
