An NFL spokesman announced that the league has “no issue” with players imitating President-elect Donald Trump’s dance.
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers performed the dance Sunday on the field after several other players did the same, including the Tennessee Titans’ Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Calvin Ridley, the San Francisco 49ers’ Leonard Floyd, Sam Okuayinonu, and Nick Bosa, and the Detroit Lions’ Malcolm Rodriguez and Za’Darius Smith. Trump has a unique dance move that involves him pumping both fists in an alternating motion, which he unveiled at his rallies.
“There’s no issue with a celebratory dance such as what took place yesterday or the previous week with the 49ers on November 10,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Front Office Sports. “It’s up to the networks to cover them as they see fit.”
In the past, the league opposed political protests, most recently requiring players to stand during the playing of the national anthem before games. That policy was born after quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the song as part of the Black Lives Matter movement.

When it comes to celebrations, the league tends to allow them as long as they do not disrupt play. Former NFL quarterback Brett Favre compared the dance to the “Ickey Shuffle” of his time.
Celebrities and athletes nationwide have taken to the dance. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) shared one such video compilation Sunday on X with the caption: “Make America Fun Again.” That video has over 3.5 million views.
