Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) debuted a new ad on Sunday aimed at Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) handling of abortion ahead of their highly anticipated debate later this month.

The 30-second spot, titled “Wanted,” criticizes DeSantis for signing a six-week abortion ban in Florida back in April. Newsom narrates the ad, which shows pictures of a woman and a doctor on a wanted poster. The pair are facing arrest, according to the ad, “by order of Gov. Ron DeSantis” for obtaining an abortion.

“Abortion after six weeks will be punishable by up to five years in prison, even though many women don't even know they're pregnant at six weeks,” Newsom says in the ad. “That's not freedom. It's Ron DeSantis’s Florida.”

The ad, paid for by Newsom’s Campaign for Democracy PAC, will run in Florida and Washington D.C. starting Sunday during Sunday night football. It aired during an earlier Sunday game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will also be shown on Hannity throughout the coming week.

Longtime Fox News host Sean Hannity will moderate the debate, scheduled for Nov. 30. DeSantis is expected to hit Newsom on rising crime in the Golden State during the showdown. If Newsom’s latest ad is any indication, he plans to go after DeSantis’s abortion record.

A DeSantis campaign spokesperson did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
